OUR HISTORY

Toepfer Transport is one of the largest sale & purchase and newbuilding shipbroking firms in Hamburg.

The company was founded in 1974 by the late Mr Heinrich A. Toepfer after he has left his father’s grain and shipping business, Alfred C. Toepfer. The company began as a pure dry cargo broker and then branched out into container chartering in the 80s and in the 90s into the S&P and newbuilding activities. Over 100 newbuildings have been placed since then. In December 1999, Mr Clemens Toepfer joined the company and became managing director in 2001.

Since 2007, we have established a permanent presence in Shanghai to cover the Asian newbuilding markets.

In January 2014, Mr Hannes Hollaender became a partner, and our dedicated research department was established.

In 2018, Toepfer Transport and Transport Capital – a leading investment management and advisory company focused on the global transport industry – established TCT Shipbrokers in Singapore to extent out scope into the Asian markets.
