The green colour of our company flag represents not only our heritage but also our moral obligation to adopt green practices. In 2018, we made a commitment to offset our travel carbon emissions and ceased to own company cars. Instead, we implemented a company bicycle scheme as an incentive to our team to cycle to work. Nowadays, the entire Toepfer team travel to the office by bike or, if unavoidable, by public transport.
Since 2021, we have tracked the carbon footprint of all company activities and follow a full carbon accounting model. Our CO2 emission offset is then used to support projects that commit to the conservation, protection and restoration of the environment. Our office energy consumption is based on 100% renewables and our purchasing decisions also take into account the environmental impact.
The company – as well as the management and many employees – donate to, and actively support, organisations that have a positive impact on social life and the environment. Besides that, we put on various company events that underline our social and environmental commitment. Toepfer Transport actively supports competitive (Olympic) sailing by sponsoring the development of emerging talents. Furthermore, our managing shareholder Clemens Toepfer proudly keeps alive the philanthropist history of the Toepfer Family as Chairman of the Advisory Board of the Carl Toepfer Foundation.
